Andrés Carevic Emphasizes Results Above Style at Cartaginés

The Argentine coach acknowledges the importance of prioritizing outcomes over his offensive tactics as he aims for a balance at the Costa Rican club.
In a candid discussion about his coaching philosophy and recent appointment at Cartaginés, Argentine football manager Andrés Carevic made it clear that, while he has a personal preference for an offensive style of play, the team’s results will take precedence.

This pragmatic approach signals his commitment to achieving success with the club, known as ‘Los Brumosos’, in the competitive landscape of Costa Rican football.

Carevic’s return to Costa Rica comes after his departure from Alajuelense, another top Costa Rican football club.

When asked about his swift return to the sport in the country, Carevic expressed gratitude and enthusiasm, stating, “I have always left the doors open in this country and I am happy to be back.

I work hard and am thankful to Cartaginés for giving me the opportunity to return.”

Adapting to a new city, Carevic, who previously resided in the bustling capital of San José, has found tranquility in Cartago, the city where Cartaginés is based.

Reflecting on his relocation, he noted, “I am in Cartago now and it is very peaceful.

I feel good and I am happy.”

An interesting advantage for Carevic is his familiarity with five players from his previous tenure.

This continuity aids in the smoother introduction of his methodology to the team.

“Having five players who have already worked with me helps immensely.

They know our methodology, which facilitates daily training and implementation of strategies,” he explained.

Discussing the current state of the team, Carevic acknowledged the challenges posed by a shortened preparation period typical at the beginning of the tournament season.

However, he expressed confidence in his team’s preparation, led by physical trainer Juan Carlos Herrera, who has commenced intensive training conditioning.

On matters of team composition and potential signings, Carevic expressed satisfaction with his current squad but left the door open for additional reinforcements, highlighting a recent acquisition, Cristopher Núñez.

He stated, “We have a competitive squad.

Always, if the club can afford it economically, we are open.

We are analyzing opportunities and will consider potential players if they could add value.”

To the supporters of Cartaginés, Carevic extended an appeal for support throughout the season, appreciating the passionate environment at the club’s playing ground.

“We always ask for the fans’ support.

Cartaginés’ pitch is beautiful to play on and we will make our utmost effort.

Time is short, and we aim to perform.”

Ultimately, Carevic underscored the necessity of flexibility in his tactical approach to ensure the team secures positive results.

“We have an idea to propose our style, integrating it through our methodology.

However, we must adapt to the opponents and prioritize accumulating points.”

The approach reflects a balanced ambition to instill robust, result-driven performance, tailored to the realities of competitive football management at Cartaginés.
