Argentinian Influencer Critiques Cost of Living in Costa Rica

Franco Listorti raises concerns over high prices while praising the country's natural beauty.
Franco Listorti, a popular Argentinian influencer, recently made headlines during his stay in Costa Rica, where he spent a month and a half exploring the country.

His remarks about the high cost of living, particularly in relation to food and beverages, have sparked discussions among locals and prospective travelers.

In an interview on Teletica's program Calle 7: Informativo, Listorti expressed his admiration for Costa Rica's natural beauty and the warmth of its people.

However, he also pointed out that the high cost of living poses challenges for residents.

He stated, "The people are very happy, despite the difficulties of living and grocery shopping, which everyone tells me is complicated."

While Listorti expressed regret for any offense his comments may have caused, he emphasized the reality of living costs in Costa Rica.

He noted, "I don’t criticize Costa Rica, but rather document my experience in the country.

I apologize to those who were offended, but you must accept the reality of high prices."

In his remarks, Listorti drew comparisons between prices in Costa Rica and those in countries like Spain and Argentina, labeling Costa Rica as more expensive than both.

He specifically pointed out the inflated costs of food, housing, and transportation, stating, "The prices are indefensible." His observations included statements about food prices being two or three times higher than in Spain, underscoring a shared concern about how locals manage to maintain their livelihoods.

Despite his critical remarks regarding living costs, Listorti reflected positively on Costa Rica's environment, stating, "In terms of nature, I have nothing bad to say; it looks incredible." He concluded his segment by warning prospective visitors to prepare financially while encouraging them to experience the allure of Costa Rica, acknowledging the country’s captivating landscapes.

Listorti revealed plans to return to Costa Rica, intending to visit with his girlfriend, but humorously suggested that he may need to make significant financial sacrifices to afford the trip.

His candid commentary has ignited a broader conversation about the economic realities facing both residents and tourists in Costa Rica.
