Banco Nacional de Costa Rica Appoints New Board of Directors

Maximiliano Alvarado Ramírez assumes the presidency of the Banco Nacional board, following recent administrative changes.
The Banco Nacional de Costa Rica has announced the appointment of its new Board of Directors, with Maximiniano Alvarado Ramírez taking the position of president and Noylin Cruz Suárez serving as vice president.

The appointments were disclosed in a press release on June 5, 2023, following a restructuring necessitated by a recent resignation.

In its inaugural session, the new board also elected Rolando Saborío Jiménez as secretary.

The board is now composed of directors María Brenes Quesada, María del Milagro Solórzano León, Anabelle Chaves Soto, and Randall Monge Saborío, who was appointed following the resignation of Alejandro Solórzano on June 2.

The Banco Nacional explained that the resignation left the board unable to validly convene until the appointment of Monge on June 3, which restored the necessary quorum for conducting official business.

The legal criteria for quorum were outlined by the Banco Nacional’s Legal Department, stipulating the minimum number of members required to be present for valid proceedings.

This newly established Board of Directors will serve on a temporary basis until the conclusion of a public competition for the appointment of permanent directors.

In a related development, the Board also defined the composition of the boards of its subsidiaries on June 3. Previous appointments were revoked and replaced with the following selections:

- BN FONDOS: Rolando Saborío Jiménez as president; María Brenes Quesada as vice president; and María del Milagro Solórzano as secretary.

- BN VITAL: Noylin Cruz Suárez as president and Anabelle Chaves Soto as vice president.

- BN SEGUROS: Anabelle Chaves Soto as president; Maximiliano Alvarado Ramírez as vice president; and Randall Monge Saborío as treasurer.

- BN VALORES: María Brenes Quesada as president; Maximiliano Alvarado Ramírez as vice president; and Rolando Saborío Jiménez as treasurer.

- BN CENTRO DE EXCELENCIA: Randall Monge Saborío as president.

The Banco Nacional is recognized as the largest bank in Costa Rica, serving a significant role in the country's financial sector.
