Former First Lady Claudia Dobles officially registers her candidacy for the presidency of Costa Rica, representing the Citizens' Action Party ahead of the 2026 elections.
Claudia Dobles, the former First Lady of
Costa Rica, has officially registered her candidacy for the presidency under the Citizens' Action Party (Partido Acción Ciudadana, PAC) as of June 14, 2025. Dobles becomes the first and only individual to submit her intent to represent the PAC in the upcoming 2026 presidential elections.
The registration period for candidates is set to close on June 16, 2025. Fabián Solano, the president of the PAC, confirmed that no other candidates have initiated the registration process or submitted the necessary documentation to seek nomination within the party.
Claudia Dobles served as First Lady from 2018 to 2022 during the presidency of Carlos Alvarado Quesada.
She has garnered a background in political science and journalism, holding degrees from the University of
Costa Rica and the University Latina, respectively.
Currently, she is completing a Master’s degree in Diplomacy at the Instituto Manuel María Peralta.
The announcement comes at a significant political moment in
Costa Rica as various parties prepare for the next presidential election cycle.
