A Costa Rican court has ordered the government to immediately release a group of Asian migrants who were deported to the country under former U.S. President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.

The court determined that the migrants were detained without due process and that their continued confinement violated national and international human rights laws.

The ruling requires authorities to provide social services and assess the individuals’ immigration status, marking a major legal rebuke to both Costa Rica’s handling of the case and its cooperation with U.S. deportation efforts.
