The renowned blues artist loses essential belongings during a train journey in Rotterdam.
José Ramírez, a prominent Costa Rican blues singer and guitarist, has reported a significant loss following a theft on a train in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Ramírez, who is recognized both nationally and internationally for his contributions to the blues genre, shared details of the incident in a video posted on social media.
The theft occurred on Monday while he was traveling to perform in another country.
In his video, Ramírez explained that the thief took his backpack, which contained nearly all of his belongings accumulated during his European tour.
He emphasized the size of the bag, which was larger than usual due to the need to transport personal items for upcoming performances.
Ramírez recounted how he had placed his backpack in an overhead luggage compartment because it was too large to hold on his lap or at his feet.
He stated that the theft happened within moments as he realized a man had swiftly exited the train with his bag.
Following the incident, he reported the theft to local authorities and spent nearly four hours at a police station in Rotterdam, but he has not yet recovered any of his stolen possessions.
Among the items taken were his passport, national identification card from
Costa Rica, U.S. residency documents, Social Security number, a laptop, a phone charger, and the earnings from his recent performances.
He noted that the only significant item left in his possession was his guitar, which he referred to affectionately as "my baby."
As a result of the incident, Ramírez is currently stranded in the Netherlands, prompting the initiation of a crowdfunding campaign to assist him through gofound.me.
