Deportivo Saprissa Extends Contract of Defender Joseph Mora Until 2027

Joseph Mora continues with the club after surpassing 100 matches, contributing to the team's recent successes.
Deportivo Saprissa has officially announced the contract renewal of defender Joseph Mora, ensuring he will remain with the club until May 2027. The announcement was made through the club’s press department, emphasizing Mora's importance to the team's lineup.

In his tenure with the club, Mora has surpassed the milestone of 100 matches and currently holds a total of 157 official appearances across all competitions, establishing himself as a key player within the squad.

Mora expressed his satisfaction regarding the renewal, stating, "I am very happy to renew with Saprissa because it is an institution that has given me many beautiful things, and I am sure it will continue to give me much more on this journey."

He highlighted his ambition to achieve championship success again with the team, asserting, "In every tournament, I want to fight for that and be the player who contributes and embodies each of the values that Saprissa represents.

I am very happy because I am in a place that enhances me; I feel very good and have always felt this way."

Mora emphasized that the values and culture of the club are ingrained in him, stating, "Ultimately, that is what always motivates me to give my best and continue down the path that both the institution and I have forged together."

Since rejoining the club in 2023, Mora has played a crucial role in helping Deportivo Saprissa secure its 40th title, showcasing his commitment to the team's objectives.

His impressive performance has also led to his recent call-up to the Costa Rican National Team for a qualifying match against the Bahamas as part of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifications.

During the previous tournament, Mora logged the most minutes on the field for Saprissa, totaling 1,705 minutes and scoring one goal in 20 appearances.

Following him in minutes played were Esteban Alvarado with 1,620, Fidel Escobar with 1,554, Kenay Myrie with 1,416, and Sebastián Acuña with 1,344 minutes.

Furthermore, Mora was the second highest assist provider for the team, registering six assists, just one short of team captain Mariano Torres, who led with seven assists.

In their official communication, Deportivo Saprissa expressed gratitude towards Mora for his professionalism, dedication, and leadership, wishing him success in this new chapter with the club.
