Intel has announced a major restructuring in 2025 that will see approximately 24,000 employees laid off, trimming its core workforce to around 75,000.
The company is also pulling back from several planned projects, including fabrication plants in Germany and Poland, and is winding down assembly and testing operations in
Costa Rica—though around 2,000 workers will remain in engineering and corporate roles.
The move is part of a strategic shift under new leadership to focus on artificial intelligence and core semiconductor engineering amid mounting financial losses.
