Investigation Underway in Disappearance of Pregnant Costa Rican Woman

Authorities investigate the disappearance of 20-year-old Tamara Centeno Murillo, whose body is presumed to have been found. Her 60-year-old partner is a suspect.
Tamara Centeno Murillo, a 20-year-old woman who was four months pregnant, was reported missing last Thursday after allegedly informing her 60-year-old American partner, identified by the surname Moriondo, about the pregnancy.

According to Andrea Murillo, Tamara's mother, there was a dispute between Tamara and Moriondo, which she believes resulted in harm to her daughter.

Moriondo was reportedly found by Andrea in a car, apparently attempting suicide by carbon monoxide inhalation.

The vehicle was discovered running in a garage with a hose connected from the exhaust to the interior.

In addition, Moriondo had apparent wrist injuries, suggesting a possible suicide attempt.

Andrea's attempts to contact Tamara throughout Wednesday and Thursday were unsuccessful.

Using a phone tracking application, Andrea traced Tamara's phone to various locations including Barranca de Puntarenas, Palmares, and San Ramón. The device was later found in a plastic bag in a garbage bin near a clinic in San Ramón. On the same day, Randall Zúñiga, director of the Costa Rican Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ), announced on social media that a body was found in a bag near La Granja street in Palmares, which is believed to be that of Tamara Centeno.

Authorities have begun a formal investigation with Moriondo as the primary suspect.

Currently detained for medical evaluation, Moriondo is to be transferred to judicial authorities for further inquiry.

Efforts to locate Tamara had been ongoing, with her image circulated by the OIJ to the public for assistance.

Further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
