Authorities seek to determine the cause of a destructive fire in San Pedro de Montes de Oca, affecting several properties.
An in-depth investigation is being conducted by the Fire Department to ascertain the causes behind a significant fire that engulfed 4,350 square meters of construction at warehouses located opposite the Muñoz & Nanne shopping center in San Pedro de Montes de Oca,
Costa Rica.
The definitive results of this investigation are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
This incident is among the largest fires recorded in the last 17 years in the region.
Rolando Leiva, from the Fire Department's Engineering Division, explained that the investigation employs a scientific method, necessitating a thorough and systematic approach.
This involves examining each space and compartment to confirm or reject different hypotheses concerning the fire's origin.
The fire commenced on Monday night and resulted in the complete destruction of a warehouse that stored oils.
Additionally, it caused significant damage to a nearby bakery building, an apartment, and a parking lot containing approximately 25 cars and 20 motorcycles.
Leiva emphasized that each affected vehicle will be carefully examined to determine if any were instrumental in triggering the fire.
'We hope to pinpoint the cause in the upcoming weeks,' stated Leiva.
'It is essential to gather numerous samples and send them to the Fire Department's laboratory, where analyses will help identify the fire's exact origin.'
