Memo del Bosque, Esteemed Mexican Producer and Husband of Costa Rican Vica Andrade, Passes Away

Memo del Bosque died on April 7, 2025, after a prolonged battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer he was first diagnosed with in 2017.
Guillermo 'Memo' del Bosque, the renowned Mexican television producer and husband of Costa Rican presenter Vica Andrade, passed away on April 7, 2025, after a lengthy struggle with Hodgkin's lymphoma.

His family confirmed the news through an official statement on his Instagram account, sharing a heartfelt letter he had penned as a farewell.

Del Bosque's diagnosis came in September 2017, when he was found to have 23 tumors affecting various parts of his body.

Despite undergoing treatment that included chemotherapy and two bone marrow transplants in 2019 and earlier in 2025, he ultimately succumbed to the disease at the age of 64.

Vica Andrade, who has three children with del Bosque, expressed her grief in a moving tribute on social media.

In a post on her official Facebook account, she wrote, 'Although you are no longer here, your love and light will continue to guide my steps every day.' She reflected on their more than 20-year relationship and emphasized her enduring love and gratitude towards her late husband.

Their relationship began when Vica Andrade worked at the Mexican channel Telehit, where she and Memo developed a close bond.

The couple's journey, however, included their shared preparation for the possibility of loss due to Memo's illness.

Andrade recounted in previous interviews how they discussed his wishes regarding his legacy and the management of his remains.

This candid acknowledgment of mortality highlighted their strong emotional connection and readiness for the challenges ahead.

Throughout his long battle with cancer, del Bosque remained open about his experiences, often discussing the profound impact the illness had on his outlook on life.

He publicly described his journey as transformative, stating it altered his perspective in meaningful ways.

In the days leading up to his passing, he shared a final message on social media, indicating his acceptance of his fate and longing for peace.

Following the news of his death, numerous celebrities from the Mexican entertainment industry expressed their condolences and paid tribute to del Bosque’s legacy on social media.

Fellow producers, actors, and friends shared memories and accolades, recognizing both his professional accomplishments and his personal warmth and generosity.

Del Bosque's death marks a significant loss for the television industry in Mexico, where he was well-respected for his contributions over the years.

His passing follows the earlier death of Andrade’s first husband, who also succumbed to cancer, further underscoring the family's challenges.

Memo del Bosque is remembered not only as a dedicated professional but also as a loving husband and father who faced his struggles with grace and courage.
