A second adult male remains in critical condition after being swept away by a powerful current in the same ocean incident that claimed the life of actor Malcolm‑Jamal Warner during a family vacation in
Costa Rica.
The unidentified 35‑year‑old attempted to rescue Warner when both were dragged underwater at Playa Grande in Limón, prompting emergency responders to administer CPR and transport him to a local clinic.
Warner, aged 54, was pronounced dead on the beach, with official reports confirming death by accidental asphyxiation by submersion.
Lifeguards were notably absent at the beach, and rescue volunteers had warned of hazardous conditions at the time of the tragedy.
Investigation into the circumstances continues.
