Aarón Salazar Joins Liga Deportiva Alajuelense Amid Emotional Family Reactions

Costa Rican defender Aarón Salazar signs with Alajuelense, marking a significant career move while eliciting strong reactions from family.
Costa Rican footballer Aarón Salazar’s decision to sign with Liga Deportiva Alajuelense for the 2025 season brought joy to many supporters of the club, commonly known as 'manudos.' Salazar, known for his reliable defense, is welcomed by both his family and those of his fiancée, Carolina Carballo, who are ardent supporters of the team.

In an interview with local media outlet 'La Teja,' Salazar shared insights into his transfer process and the significance of informing Carolina's parents.

The Carballo family, strong supporters and even members of Alajuelense, were moved to tears when they received the news via a video call while Salazar was signing his contract.

Hailing from Santa Bárbara de Heredia, Salazar is now conveniently located near Alajuelense's stadium, making it easier for his family to attend matches unlike when he played for AD San Carlos.

The player's family has a history in football, as exemplified by his uncle Robert Arias, a former player with Herediano and the Costa Rican national team.

Salazar, 25, has seamlessly integrated into Alajuelense under coach Alexandre Guimaraes, participating in both matches of the ongoing tournament.

He affirms his physical fitness and dismisses any controversy regarding past injuries as media exaggeration, assuring that his performance speaks for itself.

Salazar sustained surgery earlier in his career but reports having had no issues in subsequent years despite playing extensively on synthetic pitches.

Previously crowned national champion with Herediano in 2019, Salazar is eager to achieve similar success with Alajuelense.

He highlights understanding the club's current pressures and objectives, aiming to contribute to securing a championship trophy for the team.
