Eights Arrested in Drug Raids Across Alajuela and Guanacaste

Joint operations led by the Judicial Investigation Agency target locations linked to alleged drug offenses.
On Tuesday morning, agents from the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) conducted simultaneous raids in various communities of Alajuela and Guanacaste as part of an investigation into alleged violations of the Psychotropic Substances Law.

The operations resulted in the arrest of eight individuals and the collection of relevant evidence for ongoing cases.

In San Carlos, agents from the La Fortuna delegation executed searches at two homes, one in the Los Ángeles neighborhood of Santa Rosa de Pocosol and another in the La Lucha neighborhood of La Tigra.

During these operations, a 17-year-old minor was caught in the act and is suspected of drug possession.

The minor has been referred to the Juvenile Criminal Prosecutor’s Office while efforts continue to locate two other individuals involved: a male identified as Beltrán Martínez and a female with the last name Arias Ulloa.

Another suspect, a man named Ruiz López, was subsequently apprehended in a public area.

The OIJ reported that the investigation in San Carlos began a month ago, during which agents collected evidence linking the suspects to the sale of marijuana and crack cocaine from the raided homes.

In Los Chiles, also in Alajuela, two separate raids were conducted related to the same drug offenses.

These operations led to the arrest of two men, one aged 62 identified as Esquivel and another aged 37 named Llumbi.

Investigations in this area commenced in January after reports were received regarding alleged drug sales.

Both individuals will be referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office with the corresponding judicial report.

In Guanacaste, OIJ regional agents in Cañas carried out five raids in the neighborhoods of Santa Isabel, San Cristóbal, and El Castillo.

Four individuals were arrested as suspects of local drug trafficking, identified by the last names Ordoñez, Gómez, Marchena, and Centeno.

This investigation, which has been ongoing for three months, has uncovered alleged links between the suspects and the sale of marijuana, crack cocaine, and cocaine.

During the raids, drugs and firearms were seized.

One additional suspect remains at large, and agents are continuing efforts to locate and apprehend them.

All detainees will be presented to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, while authorities continue to gather evidence to strengthen the cases.
