Ingenious Yet Doomed: Women's Attempt to Smuggle Cocaine in Carbon-Papered Packages Thwarted

Sisters' elaborate method of concealing drugs in cardboard boxes using carbon paper fails as authorities intercept shipment destined for Florida.
In a bold attempt to outsmart law enforcement, two women are now facing criminal charges for their alleged involvement in an international drug trafficking scheme.

Authorities detained the women, identified as Amador Alfaro and Lara Jiménez, after discovering their attempt to smuggle two kilograms of cocaine into the United States using an inventive method that ultimately proved to be flawed.

The women, confident in their plan’s infallibility, meticulously concealed the illicit substance within cardboard boxes, which they covered with carbon paper—a technique they believed would counteract scanning technologies used by law enforcement agencies.

Despite their efforts to defy detection, the scheme unraveled when agents from the Policía de Control de Drogas (PCD) uncovered the concealed cargo following a raid on their residence in Quepos, Puntarenas.

The Ministry of Public Security has revealed details of the operation, which had been in motion for several months.

The drugs were initially seized thanks to cooperation from a parcel delivery service.

Anti-drug agents intercepted the suspicious packages, marked for delivery to Florida, not merely laden with souvenirs as outwardly suggested, but also containing the cleverly camouflaged narcotics.

Following their arrest, Amador and Alfaro were swiftly handed over to the Public Prosecutor's Office, where they will be facing the judicial repercussions of their actions under charges of international drug trafficking.

This thwarted operation underscores both the ongoing ingenuity and desperation of drug traffickers and the ever-increasing challenges that law enforcement faces in disrupting illegal drug networks.
