Costa Rica, affecting sectors ranging from education and technology to finance and sports.
Sonia Hernández Sánchez has been appointed as the new president of the Board of Directors of the Junta de Pensiones y Jubilaciones del Magisterio Nacional (Jupema) for the period ending in 2025. Hernández, who joined the board in December 2024, represents the Asociación de Funcionarios Universitarios Pensionados (AFUP) and has had a distinguished 38-year career at the University of
Costa Rica.
The rest of the Board includes Carlos Hernández Álvarez as Vice President and Lilliam González Castro as Secretary, among others.
In the technology sector, Laura Álvarez Zarnovski has been named the new Executive Director of the Chamber of Information and Communication Technologies (Camtic).
Her tenure began on January 16, 2025. Álvarez brings over 20 years of experience from companies such as Amazon and Procter & Gamble and holds a Master's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing.

Costa Rica has registered Marco Antonio Ranauro Cozzolino as its new president.
Ranauro, who has previously been the Legal Representative for Finance and Human Resources at Fitch Colombia, was appointed on January 28, 2021.
In the realm of sports, Vicki Ross has stepped down from her role as president of the Union of Football Clubs of the First Division (Unafut).
Fabio Masís Fallas has been appointed as her successor.
Masís, who holds a Master's degree in Law, has been a part of the Unafut leadership as a Director Director member.
The financial sector also witnessed a change with Brian Paniagua being named the new General Manager of Banco Múltiple Lafise Dominicana by Grupo Lafise.
Paniagua, with over three decades of banking and fintech experience, succeeds in leading the entity toward new growth.
In political circles, Mario Loría Barrantes has been elected by the National Assembly of the Social Christian Unity Party (PUSC) as its president.
