As of April 8, a major rehabilitation project has commenced on a 5-kilometer stretch of road connecting Tambor to Itiquís in Alajuela.
The initiative, confirmed by the National Roadway Council (Consejo Nacional de Vialidad, CONAVI), will introduce regulated traffic passage over a duration of three months.
The project represents an investment of ¢1.139 billion, funded through the Record Program, with the aim of extending the lifespan of the roadway by up to 15 years, contingent on the execution of periodic maintenance.
The rehabilitation efforts include improvements to the road base and the complete resurfacing with hot asphalt mix.
Additionally, the drainage system will be renewed where necessary, along with the construction of ditches to ensure effective water drainage.
CONAVI's Road and Bridge Conservation Management has indicated that the roadworks will take place during the day, aiming to minimize disruption for drivers.
However, it is recommended that motorists consider alternative routes to avoid potential delays.
Drivers in the affected area are advised to reduce speed, adhere to the instructions of personnel on site, and remain vigilant for machinery operating on the roadway.
