Coach Miguel Herrera announces the absence of three players due to injuries as the team prepares for a critical match against the Bahamas.
Miguel Herrera, the head coach of the
Costa Rica national football team, disclosed in a press conference that the team will not include three players in the upcoming qualifying match against the Bahamas, scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. Herrera explained that, per regulations, a maximum of 23 players can be included in the squad, necessitating the exclusion of three individuals.
The players sidelined due to muscular injuries are Brandon Aguilera, a midfielder, Kenneth Vargas, a forward, and Carlos Mora, a right-back.
In light of these absences, it is anticipated that 18-year-old Kenay Myrie from Saprissa will make his debut in a qualifying match, as Carlos Mora had been the starting right-back until his injury.
Furthermore, Cristopher Núñez is poised to take Aguilera’s place in the midfield, having recently played a pivotal role in the last tournament with Cartaginés. Kenneth Vargas, although not a guaranteed starter, could see his position filled by Warren Madrigal, Manfred Ugalde, or Alonso Martínez.
The match against the Bahamas is considered significant for the Costa Rican team's trajectory in the current qualification cycle.
