DuPont has announced the expansion of its healthcare manufacturing facility located in Heredia,
Costa Rica.
The expansion, encompassing 1,485 square meters, aims to enhance the production of sterile packaging for the global medical device industry while increasing the existing capacity for medical tubes at the site.
The announcement was made via a press release on June 5.
The new facility will house additional equipment and production lines for the manufacture of sterile packaging solutions, including bags, head bags, and caps, while also augmenting the production capacity for medical tubes to meet the demands of the Latin American and Caribbean markets.
James Chambers, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Fluids and Flexible at Spectrum Plastics Group, a subsidiary of DuPont, stated that this expansion positions the company as the first in
Costa Rica and the Caribbean to produce fluid management solutions and sterile packaging for the medical device industry.
Spectrum Plastics Group established operations in
Costa Rica in 2001 and was acquired by DuPont in August 2023. Chambers noted that the expansion significantly enhances the product portfolio and capabilities as a reliable supply chain partner for leading global health sector companies.
