Freddie Mercury Reportedly Had a Secret Daughter with a Close Friend's Wife

An upcoming biography claims the late Queen frontman fathered a daughter in 1976, which he kept hidden throughout his life.
A forthcoming biography titled _Love, Freddie_, authored by Lesley-Ann Jones, alleges that Freddie Mercury, the iconic lead vocalist of the band Queen, fathered a daughter in 1976 with the wife of a close friend.

This revelation has gained attention following a preview by a British publication, which disclosed the details ahead of the book's release.

According to the biographical account, the child was conceived a year after the global success of the song _Bohemian Rhapsody_.

Mercury purportedly kept the existence of his daughter a secret from the public and even from the larger part of his life.

The mother of the child, who has not been named, was the spouse of Mercury's close friend.

During an extended absence of her husband due to work commitments, the two developed a relationship that led to an unplanned pregnancy.

The woman, described as a Roman Catholic, reportedly chose not to terminate the pregnancy.

The biography states that Mercury and the child's mother agreed that she would raise the daughter, referred to in the book as _B_, alongside her husband, with Mercury remaining a constant presence in the child’s life.

Although raised by her adoptive parents, the daughter was aware of her biological father’s identity.

The inner circle aware of this secret reportedly included Mercury's parents, his sister, his bandmates, and Mary Austin, who was Mercury's long-time partner and significant in his life until his death in 1991. Austin inherited a substantial portion of Mercury's estate upon his passing.

Now 48 years old, the daughter is a resident physician in Europe and a mother.

Jones asserts that she reached out three years ago to share her story with the author.

The daughter presented evidence supporting her claims, including personal diaries, photographs, tickets, cards, and bank statements.

Mercury is said to have given her 17 personal notebooks shortly before his death, when she was 15 years old.

These documents, which were kept private for over three decades, form a central part of the new biography.

The daughter intends to maintain her anonymity and mitigate the potential media impact stemming from the book's publication.

She plans to spend the summer in a secluded location to safeguard her privacy and that of her family.

In handwritten letters included in the biography, _B_ describes her relationship with her father as close and affectionate.

She asserts that Mercury was dedicated and caring, never neglecting his parental role despite the unusual circumstances of her birth.

The author, Jones, noted that Mercury provided financial support to his daughter through a private legal arrangement, although she was not mentioned in his will.

The daughter reportedly has never sought financial gain or public recognition.

The identity of the mother remains undisclosed, and it is presumed she passed away several years ago.

The biography is set to be released in September, and it is expected to generate significant interest among fans of the legendary artist.
