Family and authorities seek information on the disappearance of Jessie Álvarez Amador, last seen on May 10.
Jessie Álvarez Amador, a 25-year-old mother and stylist, has been missing for nearly two weeks since her disappearance on May 10 in Finca San Juan de Pavas,
Costa Rica.
According to her family, she left home visibly anxious after receiving several persistent phone calls.
Family members have taken care of her six-year-old son, who frequently inquires about his mother.
The last known image of Jessie is from a security camera video, showing her walking towards the main street of her neighborhood before getting into a black vehicle, the nature of which remains unclear.
Authorities from the Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) have not reported any new findings related to the case.
The family is grappling with the emotional impact of her disappearance, particularly concerning her son, who does not understand why his mother is not home.
Jazmín Ugarte, Jessie’s niece, shared that they tell the child his mother is running errands, at the gym, or working.
However, at night, when he does not sleep with her, he questions her whereabouts.
Since her disappearance, the child has been sleeping with other relatives but misses the routine they shared.
The family has expressed concern that Jessie may have been a victim of abduction or retention.
Despite rumors and speculations about potential debts or connections to loan sharks, family members firmly deny these claims, asserting that she had her life in order with a stable job.
They emphasize that there is no reason to believe anyone would pursue her for money.
Efforts to locate new leads have been constrained by economic and logistical challenges, as Ugarte explained that family members have limited availability due to their own commitments.
The area surrounding Jessie’s disappearance reportedly lacks ample external surveillance cameras, with local businesses stating they only have internal monitoring systems.
The sense of urgency and helplessness is palpable, especially given the lack of reports from the public despite media coverage of the case.
The family finds it alarming that no one has come forward with information since Jessie went missing.
Ugarte expressed a hope that anyone who may have seen her would assist in the search, as they have received minimal volunteer help in their efforts.
The OIJ has advised the family to leave the investigation in their hands for safety reasons while continuing to solicit information from the public regarding Jessie’s whereabouts.
Those with any information are encouraged to contact the confidential OIJ hotline or its WhatsApp service.
