Spanish Influencer Exposes Dating App Scam During Romantic Encounter

Coral Corbí shares her experience of being deceived for 150 euros during a Tinder date, highlighting the rise of scams on dating platforms.
Coral Corbí, a Spanish influencer, recently recounted her experience of being scammed during a Tinder date, an incident that underscores the growing prevalence of online fraud.

In a series of videos shared on the social media platform TikTok, Corbí detailed how she was deceived by a man she met through the popular dating app.

The influencer reported that after several days of chatting, she agreed to meet the man for a meal at a tapas bar.

Initially surprised by his appearance, Corbí decided to give him another chance.

During the date, he received a phone call that visibly distressed him.

According to Corbí, he began to cry after the call, claiming that a family emergency was unfolding.

He explained that his 27-year-old sister had a long-standing nervous system illness and had been admitted to the hospital in their home country.

Expressing urgency to visit her but lacking funds for the ticket, which was approximately 150 euros, he conveyed his predicament to Corbí.

Moved by his story, she sent him the amount via Bizum, a mobile payment application widely used in Spain.

Following the encounter, the duo communicated for a short time, during which the man pretended to have traveled and visited his sister.

However, the narrative came to an abrupt end when Corbí accidentally saw him again at the same bar weeks later, engaged in a similar scenario with another woman.

This prompted her to intervene and caution the new potential victim of the scam.

Corbí's experience illustrates how scammers are increasingly employing emotional manipulation strategies to exploit individuals during personal interactions.

Her situation raises awareness about safety and caution for online dating users, emphasizing the continued need for vigilance against financial scams facilitated through digital platforms.
