A man was fatally struck by a train near Oxígeno Mall in Heredia on May 22.
On the evening of May 22, 2025, a 33-year-old man surnamed Vargas was fatally struck by a train while attempting to cross the railway tracks near Oxígeno Mall in Heredia,
Costa Rica.
The incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. According to reports from emergency services, the victim was hit by the train while he was crossing, and emergency responders subsequently transported him to Hospital San Vicente de Paúl in Heredia.
He was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
This tragic event adds to a concerning trend in the region, as traffic accidents have claimed the lives of 249 individuals as of May 20, 2025.
