Clausura 2025: Key Matches as Teams Vie for Semifinal Spots

Saprissa, Puntarenas FC, Cartaginés, and Alajuelense prepare for decisive matches in pursuit of a place in the semifinals.
As the Clausura 2025 season reaches a critical juncture, four teams—Saprissa, Puntarenas FC, Cartaginés, and Alajuelense—are vying for semifinal positions in a series of pivotal matches.

Each team is fielding strong lineups in hopes of securing victories that would propel them closer to their postseason objectives.

Saprissa, under the management of Paulo Wanchope, is set to adopt an attacking strategy in their match against Pérez Zeledón. The team's offensive approach reflects their urgent need for a win, contingent on favorable results from other fixtures.

Pérez Zeledón, aiming to disrupt Saprissa’s ambitions, has similarly geared up for an assertive showing.

In this match-up, the stakes are high as both teams seek to influence their playoff fates.

In another significant encounter, Alajuelense is looking to cement their position in the semifinals.

Only requiring a draw against Municipal Liberia to achieve this goal, coach Óscar “Machillo” Ramírez has prepared his squad for a dominant performance in their upcoming match.

Meanwhile, Cartaginés also vies for a semifinals spot and will be facing Sporting FC at the Fello Meza Stadium.

Cartaginés aims to close the regular season on a strong note, with their lineup designed to secure the essential points for qualification.

Lastly, Puntarenas FC will collide with Santa Ana at the Ernesto Rohrmoser Stadium, albeit with several key players sidelined due to injuries.

Their situation adds an additional layer of challenge to the match as they strive to maintain their competitiveness in the league.

Overall, the results from these matches will play a crucial role in determining which teams advance to the semifinals of the Clausura 2025.
