Puntarenas FC Solidifies Semifinal Hopes with Quirós' Spectacular Goal

Veteran striker Daniel Quirós scores pivotal goal in the 2025 Clausura Tournament.
On May 7, 2025, Puntarenas FC achieved a crucial victory in the Liga de Fútbol de Costa Rica, enhancing their chances of qualifying for the semifinals of the Clausura Tournament 2025. The match, held at the Ernesto Rohrmoser Stadium in San José, saw Puntarenas FC face off against Santa Ana.

Veteran forward Daniel 'Bebé' Quirós opened the scoring in the 15th minute, despite being sidelined from the team since December 2023.

Quirós' goal came after he outmaneuvered Santa Ana defender Fred Juárez in a physical battle for possession, expertly lifting the ball over goalkeeper Patrick Pemberton, who disputed the play for a potential foul on his teammate.

This pivotal moment brought the home fans to their feet, as it significantly improved Puntarenas FC's standings in the tournament.

Despite having faced challenges with injuries that have affected his playing time, Quirós’ return to the squad coincided with the appointment of Hector Trejos as the club's sporting director.

Trejos' resurgence has sparked renewed enthusiasm among the team and its supporters, with Puntarenas FC now firmly in contention for a spot in the tournament's semifinal phase.

As the tournament progresses, this victory not only boosts Puntarenas FC's morale but also reignites hopes of clinching a title in the competitive landscape of Costa Rican football.
