Herediano Discovers Cloned Tickets Sold Multiple Times Ahead of Championship Final

Thousands of fans were unable to enter the stadium despite having valid tickets, prompting an investigation into ticket fraud.
In the wake of the 31st championship title won by Club Sport Herediano, questions have arisen regarding the entry restrictions at Estadio Carlos Alvarado during the final match against Alajuelense on May 28. Many fans, despite possessing tickets, were denied access as the stadium reached full capacity approximately two hours before kickoff, prompting significant outcry from supporters.

In response, Herediano has committed to refunding those who were unable to enter due to these circumstances.

The club has initiated a refund process for fans who purchased valid tickets but were turned away at the gates.

As part of this investigation, Herediano has uncovered alarming evidence regarding ticket fraud.

Among the findings reported by the club were several issues related to ticketing:

- Several tickets had QR codes that had been previously used or duplicated, resulting in them being rejected at the entrance.

- Some tickets were acquired from resellers and were already marked as entered in the ticketing system.

- Notably, certain QR codes had been sold as many as 20 times, indicating a significant breach of ticketing regulations, with no fault attributed to the club or the ticketing company, Special Ticket.

Herediano emphasized the necessity for a thorough verification process in partnership with Special Ticket to ensure transparency and accurate identification of each case.

The club must confirm the validity of each ticket, whether physical or digital, through Special Ticket’s database before proceeding with refunds.

For fans who still possess their physical tickets, Herediano has outlined a refund schedule running from June 10 to June 12, at the club's administrative offices.

The hours of operation for refunds are from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM. To facilitate the process, fans must present their original ticket in good condition along with an official identification document.
