A suspect faces one year of preventive detention following a fatal shooting incident that resulted in the death of a six-month-old infant.
A man identified by the last name Valverde Coto has been ordered to serve one year of preventive detention following a court ruling related to a triple homicide in San Ramón, Alajuela,
Costa Rica.
The incident, which took place on March 7, resulted in the deaths of a six-month-old baby, a 16-year-old teenager, and an adult woman.
As of March 21, the Judicial Branch confirmed that the San Ramón District Attorney's Office secured the preventive detention order against Valverde Coto, who faces charges of triple homicide and two counts of attempted murder.
The violent incident occurred around 3:30 PM on March 7, when authorities responded to an alert reporting multiple people injured at a residence.
Witnesses indicated that individuals arrived on motorcycles and opened fire indiscriminately at the property.
Initial reports also indicated that two women sustained injuries during the attack.
One of the injured women, with the last name Badilla, was reported to have received seven gunshot wounds.
Another woman, identified as Guevara, who is the mother of the deceased infant, suffered a gunshot wound to her abdomen.
Valverde was apprehended on March 18 by the national police.
The case is currently under investigation under the case number 25-000435-0068-PE, with ongoing efforts directed towards identifying additional suspects involved in the incident, as detailed by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
