The Ministry to Open Digital Platform for Exception Transfers and Other Requests Starting April 1, 2025.
Starting April 1 and running through April 30, 2025, the Ministry of Public Education (MEP) of
Costa Rica will activate the SALTAD system, enabling teachers, technical-educators, and administrative-educators to submit requests for exception transfers, increases in lesson loads, and swaps.
The process will be conducted exclusively through the digital platform accessible at https://saltad.mep.go.cr.
Applications that are not submitted during this designated period will be disregarded in the subsequent analysis.
It is important to note that exception transfers are designated for special cases only, which may include health issues, domestic violence situations, victim protection, or court orders, and these will be processed according to current regulatory guidelines.
Additionally, in June 2025, the MEP will open a separate period specifically for technical and administrative-educational staff to process transfers, promotions, demotions, or swaps, which will also be managed through the SALTAD system.
The MEP's Human Talent Management Directorate is expected to publish detailed information and a user guide to facilitate the application process.
The Ministry has also previously highlighted rising expenditures on employee incapacities, which have reportedly increased by 54% over three years.
