On March 13, 2025, a 20-year-old man was shot multiple times around midday in Pueblo Nuevo, Limón. The Red Cross received an alert at 12:24 p.m. and confirmed that the victim exhibited no vital signs at the scene of the incident.
Limón province has recorded a total of 36 homicides in 2025, making it the second most violent province in
Costa Rica, which has seen a national total of 186 homicides this year.
Currently, there have been no arrests related to this shooting, and judicial investigators remain on-site gathering evidence.
