In a violent incident reported on March 30, 2025, armed assailants broke into a residence in La Virgen de Sarapiquí,
Costa Rica, where they threatened a woman with firearms and forcibly stole several items before escaping with two vehicles.
The incident was reported to the Ministry of Security at approximately 9:30 PM through the emergency line 911.
Upon the arrival of law enforcement officers, the victim recounted her harrowing experience.
A police operation on the Northeastern Corridor enabled authorities to intercept a stolen Toyota Prado vehicle in the Ticari sector of Horquetas, Sarapiquí.
Two individuals were apprehended at that location, identified as a man with the last name Alvarado and a 17-year-old juvenile.
In a subsequent search on the same route, officers discovered the second stolen vehicle, a Toyota Hilux, in an area known as La Vuelta del Tigre, where the vehicle had reportedly overturned, allowing the occupants to flee the scene.
