Costa Rica, lost her life in a tragic farming accident involving a cow on a dairy farm in Suerre de Jiménez, Pococí.
Castillo had recently begun working on the farm alongside her father and husband, having joined the team 15 days prior to the incident.
The accident occurred when a cow, which had been tied to a post, allegedly became frightened and broke free.
According to accounts from family members, the cow was also tied to Castillo by the waist, and as the animal bolted, it dragged her a significant distance, inflicting severe injuries.
Castillo's father and husband rushed to her aid, but the injuries proved fatal, as confirmed by Tatiana Díaz from the Red Cross, who noted multiple head injuries and the absence of vital signs upon their arrival.
Castillo was known for her industrious spirit and had aspirations for a better future.
Her elder brother, Edwin Espinoza, described her as a hardworking individual who was hopeful for a new start in Los Chiles, where she anticipated receiving a housing benefit.
She had completed all necessary applications to fulfill this dream, reflecting her determination and hope for her family’s future.
María was the mother of three children and shared a close bond with her husband, reportedly taking care of him due to his health issues.
Her larger family circle included three siblings, with María being the only daughter, known for her warm and loving nature.
