21-year-old dies following a shooting during a social gathering, sparking investigations into the motivations behind the attack.
A 21-year-old man, identified by the surname González and of Nicaraguan nationality, was fatally shot on Sunday afternoon inside a residence in Guadalupe de Cartago while attending a social event.
The Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) reported that the incident occurred after an altercation ensued between González and a man who arrived on a bicycle.
Following a verbal exchange, the assailant produced a firearm and shot González multiple times.
Witnesses reported that González fell to the ground and several individuals at the scene attempted to provide assistance before transporting him to Max Peralta Hospital in Cartago, where he succumbed to his injuries hours later.
Investigators collected several ballistic evidence items from the scene of the shooting, with at least three bullet casings identified for forensic analysis.
The body of the deceased was subsequently transferred to the judicial morgue.
Authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident to ascertain the motives behind the attack, with initial considerations suggesting a possible settling of scores may have occurred.

One of the victims, identified as Héctor Brandon Barrantes Rivera, was shot and killed at the scene, while the driver managed to reach a nearby Fuerza Pública station to request help.
According to sources, the driver, surnamed Brenes, indicated he works for a passenger transport service and had picked up Barrantes from Ciudadela before being intercepted by gunmen on motorcycles.
