Alajuelense's Alexandre Guimaraes Plans Continuity Following Recent Victory

The Alajuelense coach emphasizes maintaining team momentum after a win against Santos.
Following a 2-0 victory against Santos, Alexandre Guimaraes, head coach of Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, expressed his intention to maintain consistency in team selection as they prepare for upcoming matches.

Guimaraes highlighted the importance of allowing players to gain rhythm and confidence as the tournament progresses without additional competitions complicating the schedule.

The coach noted that the team has seen growth in terms of collective performance, adapting to new player roles and functions within a less congested calendar.

He acknowledged the success of these strategic adjustments in achieving territorial dominance against opponents.

Acknowledging the match against Santos, Guimaraes stated that the team displayed excellent coordination and quick ball movement, contributing to their clear victory.

Looking ahead, Guimaraes mentioned the need to focus on player recovery and preparation for their next match against Guanacaste, scheduled for Sunday at 3 PM. The latter is expected to be a challenging encounter.

Alajuelense remains the only unbeaten team in the league with six matches left in the regular season.

Guimaraes commented on the competitive nature of the table, emphasizing that the three leading teams are closely matched.

The current standings call for relentless effort to maintain their competitive edge while minimizing weaknesses.

In addressing team morale, Guimaraes remarked that securing victories by a larger margin instills a sense of calm among players, enabling them to perform without excessive pressure.

He also referred to a controversial incident involving an offside call that followed a possible foul in the penalty area, indicating that the coaching staff would seek clarification on officiating decisions in an upcoming meeting.

Regarding player health, Guimaraes provided an update on Ronald Matarrita, who is recovering from an ankle issue.

He reassured that Matarrita has shown signs of improvement and will be monitored throughout the week ahead of the match against Guanacaste.
