Two young individuals lose their lives in separate motorcycle collisions over the weekend.
On March 30, 2025, at approximately 6:49 PM, a 25-year-old motorcyclist, identified by the last name Marchena, died after colliding with a parked vehicle in the town of Guaitil, located within the canton of Santa Cruz, Guanacaste.
Emergency responders from Cruz Roja Costarricense attended to Marchena at the accident scene, but he was declared dead shortly thereafter.
The Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) arrived at the site to conduct an investigation and collect the body as part of their procedures to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a separate incident, at around 1:30 AM on Sunday, another tragic accident occurred involving a woman, whose identity has not yet been disclosed.
Reports indicate that she was riding a motorcycle in Ochomogo, Cartago, when she collided with concrete barriers located on the road.
She was transported via ambulance to Max Peralta Hospital in Cartago but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
These two accidents highlight ongoing safety concerns related to motorcycle travel in
Costa Rica, where recent statistics have indicated an uptick in road-related fatalities.
