A 25-year-old man has been arrested by the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) as a suspect in the murder of Antonio Barboza, a 58-year-old resident, who was found dead in his home in Puerto Jiménez, Osa.

The arrest took place on the morning of March 11, 2025, following two search warrants executed around 4 a.m. in the Boca Gallardo and Cañaza areas of Puerto Jiménez.

The police reported that relevant evidence was discovered during the search of the suspect’s residence, which could be significant to the ongoing investigation.

The homicide reportedly occurred on March 6, 2025, when Barboza's body was discovered inside his home, bearing apparent stab wounds.

In the wake of this violent incident, the OIJ conducted several investigative procedures that led to the identification of the young man as a key suspect in the case.

Following his arrest, the suspect has been presented to the Public Ministry with a report that outlines the circumstances of the crime and his involvement, pending judicial proceedings to determine his legal status.
